For the dash cam not to work to one's detriment, it needs to be used in combination with certain accessories. The accessories do not just work for the dash cam alone; they ensure that the car is readily on the move. Some dash cam accessories are hereby underlisted:

• Battery discharge prevention device: Due to the fact that the camera is left running, there exists the tendency of the car battery getting used up. Hence, the battery discharge prevention device 'stands in the gap' to cut off power when it is suspected that the battery is in danger of running down- say, when it is down to 12V
• Dash cam mounts: The mounts are needed for the purpose of placement and/or elevation. They come in a variety of designs- suction cup, friction mount and adhesive tape mount.
• Hard wiring kit: The cam, most certainly needs to be connected to a power source to function and this is where a power cord- 12V power cable in most cases- becomes a necessity. While most power cords are designed to be connected through the cigarette lighter; some are structured for use via the fusebox.
• Extra memory card: In order to avoid suddenly missing out on some events while you are on the go, it is expedient that you have an external storage unit [for your dash cam] readily available with you.
